Welcome to our Lower School!
Ask just about any student at San Francisco Day School about the golden rules they learned in Kindergarten, and they will earnestly recite:
Respect each other
Take care of your world
With that, SF Day students adopt a foundation upon which they build throughout nearly a decade at our School. Our lower school (Kindergarten through fourth grade) is filled with the sights and sounds of children learning how to be their best, at their own pace.
Under the leadership of Sue Collentine, the Lower School Head, SF Day has created an educational environment that values not just mastery, but pride in risk-taking and the knowledge that true learning often comes from mistakes. Our curriculum is integrated in such a way that ideas and skills flow from one subject area to another. Each classroom in the lower school has a lead teacher, co-teacher and at least one dedicated learning specialist there to provide them with the support and individual attention they need as they grow within a community of learners.

For 27 years, Sue Collentine has helped shape SF Day into the excellent academic institution it is today. In her words, "What I love most about my work at SF Day is using my knowledge and skills to transform teaching and learning into passionate pursuits for students, teachers, and parents."
